The Disciples Women of our church should be very appreciative of the officers this past year. Nancy Wetmore served as vice president and stepped "up to the mike" to fill in at the last minute at the Four Score and More Luncheon; Debbie Avenell kept us in stitches while keeping the books balanced - an especially tough job this year because of Mission Springs; Dee Burney, our secretary and the person who typed the numerous pages for Mission Springs program book; and Donna Myas, the events chairperson, who made sure we had people to work our events and that we had good food and that we made a profit which we could use to benefit those in need. She was also responsible for the layettes for the hospital; Ruth Wilson represented Dorcas Circle and Nancy Wetmore represented BYKOTA. The new officers for 2008-2009 will be:

It should be a good year. If you have suggestions for events, please let these people know. We always strive to have events to include as many people as possible.

BYKOTA

BYKOTA is a women's group that welcomes women of all ages who are interested in study of current Christian Women's concerns, as well as service to women and children both locally and throughout the world. Along the way, we like to have lots of fun and enjoy working with fellow BYKOTAns. Some of our current projects are:
Bags and health items for Francis House
Layettes for newborns in low-income families
School kits for children in low-income and incoming refugee families
In-house wedding receptions
Money to Regina Anyangwe for the health clinics in Cameroon
In-house memorial service receptions

BYKOTA stands for Be Ye Kind One To Another. If you are a woman who identifies with the purposes of BYKOTA and would like to find out about joining the group, please join us at 7:00 PM the second Wednesday of each month. See Kathy Burt, Nancy Wetmore, or Nan Fellers, or leave a message with the church office for details. All women are invited!

BYKOTA will next meet July 9th at 6:30 PM at Urbano's at 5825 Manzanita Ave. Meet at the church at 5:45 PM if you want to carpool, or you can drive. Please see Nancy Wetmore or Kathy Burt to make a reservation. The food is typical Mexican and so is the restaurant. Prices start at $8.95.

Girl's Night Out

Girl's Night Out is all about women of all ages getting together to swap stories, laugh at life and have fun. GNO meets the third Monday of the month at 6:30 PM, usually at the church. The group sometimes meets at other places, attending movies or theater, or just for dinner out somewhere. Please join us!

Girl's Night Out will next meet July 21st, 2008 at 6:30 PM. It's Movie Night!

Bible and Bag

Bible and Bag lunch meets every Wednesday at noon. You are invited to come to the church with your sack lunch and enjoy a time of fellowship before we begin Bible Study. We encourage everyone to share their views and to help us all learn to apply the scriptures to our lives. Led by Rev. Ted Firch, all are welcome!

Bible and Bag will meet July 2nd, July 9th, July 16th, July 23rd and July 30th at noon.

Morning Prayer Fellowship

Every Wednesday, First Christian Church prayer fellowship meets at 6 AM at Denny's on 7900 College Town Drive. This fast-paced breakfast/study is ideal for busy professionals, and early riser! Led by Vickie Firch, all are welcome!

Morning Prayer Fellowship will meet July 2nd, July 9th, July 16th, July 23rd and July 30th at 6 AM.

DORCAS

DORCAS meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 10 AM, at the home of a member. Juanita Mulkey leads the study and Oma Collins chairs the group.

DORCAS will meet on July 8th at 10 AM, at Barbara Kronquest's. They will start a new study on "Prayer".

Senior "Lets Go"

Let's Go meets the first Tuesday of the month around 11:30 AM. The fellowship and contact with each other is important. Sign-up sheets will be on the bulletin board 2 Sundays ahead. Anytime more than 16 sign up we'll begin to expand out into the social hall...definitely for bingo! Always remember our parking lot has numbered slots rented out...utilize unnumbered slots and handicapped parking.

Let's Go Seniors will next meet July 1st.

Book Club

Book Club usually meets once a month whenever the group can get together. We welcome new members. It's fun, try it, you might like us.

Book Club next meets on July 6th at 2:30 PM at Faith Ann Orebaugh's house. Our book will be "Dandelion Through the Crack" by Kyio Sato.
